Career Highlights: One of sports’ premier play-by-play announcers, Joe Buck has won six Emmy Awards while handling duties for FOX Sports’ award-winning NFL and MLB coverage…Buck recently signed with HBO to also host a sports-based talk show for the network to air four times a year…He is the son of the late Hall of Fame sportscaster Jack Buck… Buck is the first play-by-play announcer to handle lead MLB and NFL coverage in the same year since NBC’s Curt Gowdy and then-ABC’s Al Michaels… Working the Super Bowl in 2005 made Buck the youngest announcer (35) to ever call a Super Bowl and the first ply-by-play announcer to call the World Series and Super Bowl in the same season since Michaels called the 1987 Series and the Super Bowl in 1988…On September 8, 1998, Buck called Mark McGwire’s 62nd home run that broke Roger Maris’ single-season record…Buck joined FOX Sports in 1994, and along with analyst Tim Green, formed one of the NFL on FOX’s six original broadcast teams…At age 25 in 1994, Buck was the youngest announcer to call a full slate of NFL games on network television…Prior to FOX, Buck called play-by-play for the then-Louisville Redbirds, a minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, and was a reporter for ESPN’s coverage of the Triple-A All-Star Game…In 1991, Buck did reporting for St. Louis’ CBS affiliate KMOV and followed in his father’s footsteps by broadcasting for the Cardinals on local television and KMOX Radio, filling in while his father worked on CBS telecasts…In the 1992-93 season he was the color commentator for University of Missouri basketball…Buck continued to call Cardinals games after being hired by FOX, initially with his father on KMOX and later on FSN Midwest television…Due to FOX network duties, 2008 was the first season that a member of the Buck family was not a part of the Cardinals’ broadcasting crew...Buck also contributes occasional opinion pieces to The Sporting News and also is a key contributor on Team 1380 on the “ITD Morning After” program in St. Louis.
