Career Highlights: Considered one of the best big running backs of his era, Jerome Bettis ranks fifth on the NFL’s all-time rushing list with 13,294 yards ...Nicknamed “The Bus,” the 13-year All-Pro retired immediately following the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks in the 2006 Super Bowl in his hometown of Detroit…Picked by the Los Angeles Rams as the 10th pick overall in the 1993 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame, Bettis began his highly successful rookie campaign rushing for 1,429 yards…He became one of only eight rookies to rush for 200 yards in a single game and the first Rams rookie to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season since Eric Dickerson…Following his highly successful rookie season he received post-season honors including the Co-Rookie of the Year award and The Sporting News Rookie of the Year, and the Rams MVP award…A six-time Pro Bowl selection (including his rookie season), Bettis played the first three years of his career with the Rams before being traded to the Steelers where he played for 10 illustrious seasons…Bettis was one of only six players in NFL history to rush for more than 13,000 yards…He also was one of only eight players in history to rush for 1,000 yards for eight or more seasons…Other Bettis accolades include 1996 Comeback Player of the Year, three-time Steelers MVP and the winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year for his contributions to the community… He founded the “The Bus Stops Here” Foundation to help disadvantaged and underprivileged kids…Bettis is currently the host of The Jerome Bettis Show on WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh…He also is a commentator for the NFL Network and a former NBC analyst for the “Football Night in America” studio show…His book “Driving Home: My Unforgettable Super Bowl Run,” came out in 2006...He also owns a restaurant in Pittsburgh called Jerome Bettis Grille 36.
