Career Highlights:A five-time Pro Bowler with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ronde Barber is the identical twin brother of former New York Giants running back, Tiki Barber…A 13-year NFL veteran, Barber cemented his reputation as one of the NFL’s finest all-around cornerbacks by being named to five career All-Pro Teams (first-team honors in 2001, 2004 and 2005, and second-team honors in 2002 and 2006)… Barber is the Bucs’ all-time interceptions leader with 37 interceptions…Barber was a key defensive playmaker for the Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII and their championship 48-21 victory over the Oakland Raiders…He has spent his entire career with the Buccaneers…Barber’s career totals include: 1,158 tackles, 37 interceptions, 25 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries and 205 passes defensed…Since he joined Tampa Bay, the Bucs’ defense has been ranked in the Top 10 in the NFL in total defense in 11 of his 13 seasons and in the Top 5 on eight occasions…In 2009, Barber started all 16 games for the 10th season in a row…His 167 consecutive starts are the most in the NFL among all active defenders and third among all active players……Barber was also named a defensive team captain last season…His 25 career sacks are most by a cornerback in NFL history and first among all active NFL defensive backs…He became the first cornerback in NFL history to record at least 20 interceptions and 20 sacks in his career on December 11, 2005 in a game against Carolina…Barber posted a career-high 120 tackles during the 2005 season with five interceptions…He followed those stats with 108 tackles and three interceptions in 2006…On October 22, 2006, playing against the Philadelphia Eagles, Barber tied the record for most interception returns for touchdowns in a game with two…Barber was named NFL Alumni Defensive Back of the Year in 2001…Barber played college football at the University of Virginia with his brother…He started all 36 Cavalier games and earned All-ACC first-team honors each of three seasons, including two bowl games…Barber graduated with a degree in commerce with a concentration in marketing…He was inducted into the University of Virginia Hall of Fame in 2005…Along with Tiki, was named as a co-chair for 2005 Read Across America Day…Also with Tiki, wrote a children’s book titled “By My Brother’s Side” that was released during the 2004 season…He co-hosted Sunday Sports Extra on Tampa NBC affiliate WFLA for three years (2000, 2002, 2003), which was named Best Sportscast in Florida by the Associated Press while earning a SPJ Award (Society of Professional Journalists) for his role on the show.
