Career Highlights: One of the greatest catchers in baseball history, Carlton Fisk was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in January 2000…He played 23 years in the league and was named an 11-time American League All-Star…Fisk started his career with the Boston Red Sox in 1972 where he earned American League Rookie of the Year honors and a Gold Glove…Fisk hit the dramatic, game-winning 12th inning home run in Game Six of the 1975 World Series against Cincinnati at Fenway Park…He joined the Chicago White Sox in 1981 where he played for 12 seasons…Fisk is one of only three catchers (with Johnny Bench and Yogi Berra) to collect 300 home runs, 1,000 runs scored and 1,000 hits…He holds major league records for most home runs by a catcher (351) and most games caught (2,226)…He was a three-time Silver Slugger Award winner (1981, 1985,1988)…Fisk is second all-time in home runs hit after the age of 40 with 71…Fisk was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and had his uniform retired by both the Red Sox and White Sox…In 2005, the Red Sox honored Fisk and the 12th-inning home run that won Game 6 of the 1975 World Series by naming the left field foul pole where it landed the “Fisk Pole”…Thirty years later, the video of Fisk trying to wave the ball fair remains one of baseball’s enduring images…Also in 2005, the Chicago White Sox unveiled a life-sized bronze statue on Fisk located inside U.S. Cellular Field….Fisk is a member of major league baseball’s All-Century Team.
