Career Highlights: Recognized as a colorful, hard-nosed quarterback, Billy Joe Tolliver enjoyed a 12-year NFL career… He was a second-round draft pick of the San Diego Chargers in 1989…He started the final four games of his rookie season with the Chargers, including a 24 of 39 performance at Washington for a career-best 350 yards and two touchdowns… His 350 yards were the fifth highest total by a rookie quarterback in NFL history…Tolliver had a streak of 140 straight passes without an interception in 1990, the second longest in team history, behind only Dan Fouts’ club record 168…He also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Oilers, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears…Tolliver still holds several single-game passing records for Texas Tech including yardage (446) and touchdowns in a single game (5)…He threw for a SWC-record 244 yards as a freshman in his first collegiate game vs. TCU…An avid golfer, Tolliver has two American Century Celebrity Golf Championships to his credit (2005 and 1996)…He has posted seven other top-five finishes in the past 12 years…He won the 2003 Tom Dreesen Celebrity Invitational with partners Jim McMahon and Tom Dreesen and also the 2003 CPT Kiawah Island Pro-Celebrity Challenge with Hank Kuehne and Mark Rypien …Tolliver also won the 2002 Mohegan Sun Team Championship with partner John Congemi…He has been playing golf since 1987, when he was introduced to the game by his cousin while a sophomore at Texas Tech.
